24 Months Stay Back In Ireland after study
Minister for Education and Skill development of Ireland has been agreed to give consent to the 2 years (24 months) ‘stay-back option’ (Post Study work permit) for Master degree and Doctorate students from 12 months to 24 months. The governmentof Ireland is making it very easier for India based undergraduates who have awarded their degree in Ireland to stay-on after they finish studying. Irish govt. new decision will permitqualifiedalumni who have studied in Irish universities and colleges and whose award is granted by a recognised Irish awarding body at Master or Doctorate level, to remain in Ireland for two years to seek graduate jobs and employment.
It is observed that recent Brexit has created complications for the British higher educationsector. International students facing more challenges in UK than Ireland. On the other hand, Ireland’s position as a centre of excellence in international education and a location for world-class research has been strengthened.
Growth of education sector in Ireland with respect to other countries
The Gov. of Ireland’s international education strategy launched recently in 2016. It was outlined amotivated plan to rise the number of international students by a further 35% by year 2020. Presently there are around 34,000 international students studying in Ireland’s higher education sector from 160 nations. The most number of students come from the USA, People republic of China, India, Middle East, Brazil and Malaysia.
In this figure, India is the fastest growing in terms of number of students, with about 3000 students from Indiapresently studying in Ireland at various colleges and universities. Approx. 85% students studying at Master Degree level. For the next intake (September 2017), it is expected that there will be an increase of 25% in student from India. Apart from Master studies, now students are focusing on UG courses as well. According to Times survey, All of Ireland’s universities are ranked in the top 5% internationally.
